Razer is well known for its gaming accessories, and this is one of the best ambidextrous mice out there.

It has superfast 2nd Gen gaming switches. They use infrared rays to detect even the smallest movement. As a result, the super-quick response time of 0.2 milliseconds will take your gaming to the next level. Plus, it reduces the likelihood of misclicks. So, you can get the edge on other players and come out on top with this mouse!

Another attractive feature is the onboard storage. So, you can save several profiles with customized settings and access them quickly.

The Razer Viper is an excellent choice for anyone looking for an ambidextrous mouse. It looks fairly simple but provides superb performance and speed. You’d be hard pushed to find a mouse more responsive or accurate than this one, especially at this affordable price.

Best Ambidextrous Gaming Mouse: A Buying Guide

There are loads of gaming mice on the market. And that includes a surprising number of ambidextrous mice. But they vary a lot in everything from size to performance, accuracy to ergonomics.

So, this buying guide will highlight the essential factors in an ambidextrous mouse. It should help you pick out the best gaming mouse with side buttons for your needs.

Ergonomic Design and Shape

You should be able to use an ambidextrous mouse with either hand. That means they need to be symmetrical, with the same number of buttons on either side.

The symmetrical design rules out a thumb rest which can add extra comfort for the user. So, the challenge with ambidextrous mice is making them ergonomic. That’s not so easy, given the limitations of the design.

But the best ambidextrous gaming mice create a comfortable, supportive design. So, you can use them comfortably for hours at a time.

One factor in this comfort is the position of the buttons. They need to be easy to reach on either side, so you can click them without straining. Also, test out how hard you have to press the buttons to click.

Another factor is the size of the mouse. While ambidextrous mice tend to be more streamlined and smaller, they do differ in size. So, if you can’t test it out in person, make sure to read the reviews and see if it will suit you.

Keep in mind that these types of mice work best when using a finger-and-claw grip. In this position, your hand should rest comfortably on the mouse. But they aren’t ideal if you prefer a palm grip.

Overall, the mouse should feel sturdy and durable. You don’t want a flimsy mouse that will break within days of buying it.

DPI means dots per inch, and it’s one of the most significant features in a gaming mouse. The DPI will tell you how sensitive the mouse is. A mouse with high DPI will pick up on how you move the mouse, and your cursor will move more quickly on the screen.

But beyond a certain point, you can start to lose accuracy. With a very high DPI, it can become harder to control the cursor with precision. Find out more about how DPI affects sensitivity and accuracy in this article.

Your preferred DPI may differ from mine – it’s very personal. So, the best gaming mice tend to have adjustable DPI, sometimes with a very wide range.

If you find a mouse with adjustable DPI, that’s ideal. When you set the DPI, you can increase your accuracy. So, you can improve your reactions in first-person and other games.

Laser vs. Optical Sensor

The sensor is another crucial factor when it comes to picking a gaming mouse. There are two main types of sensors – laser sensors and optical sensors

Optical sensors shine an LED light that constantly flickers on and off at very fast speeds. With this light, it picks up on how you move the mouse. Then, it converts this information into your cursor movements on the screen.

In contrast, laser sensors use a laser (as suggested in the name). They tend to be more powerful and provide greater precision. But the gap between laser and optical sensors has narrowed in recent years. And while laser mice tend to be more expensive, it doesn’t always mean it’s the best mouse for you.

Make sure to pay attention to the polling rate of each mouse. It’s measured in Hertz and will tell you how quickly the mouse tracks the movements. The higher the polling rate, the more precise the mouse should be.

Next up, think about how much you can customize each mouse. The more customizations it has, the more you can adapt it to your needs.

For example, does it have programmable buttons? And if so, how many? Can you also customize the lighting on the mouse?

Other premium models even have more than one type of switch. That way, you can decide how much pressure you need to apply to the buttons and how much feedback you get.

If you can customize your mouse, you can ensure that it functions just as you like.

You can choose between a wired or wireless gaming mouse. Again, it comes down to personal preference here.

Wired mouses often provide a faster connection with fewer lags. That’s because they don’t have to rely on transferring over Bluetooth, which can slow them down. You won’t have to worry about charging up a wired mouse, either.

But a wired mouse does make for a messier desktop. So, if you prefer fewer cables and clutter, go for an ambidextrous wireless mouse instead.
